Registan in early morning. Registan was the heart of Timurid Empire’s ancient city of Samarkand, consisting of three Islamic schools that were built after Timur’s death. The mosaic outside the most famous one depicts a student (represented as a tiger) chasing knowledge (represented as a goat) under the guidance of a human-faced teacher.
