Spending 10 days in Colorado for work and the weekend wander around.

Taking a trip down memory lane…

The first time I visited Colorado was during the summer of my senior year of college, when I took an 8-week internship in Boulder, Colorado. Interesting things happen when you put 4 college kids in the same apartment – They venture out to do risky things:

The four of us spent 18 hours on a Saturday hiking Longs Peak, where I learned a thing or two about mountaineering: Surviving a long hike munching on a Ziploc bag of cereal, sleeping under a giant boulder when I got stuck during an afternoon thunderstorm, and calling the ranger instead of 911 in the case of losing a fellow hiker (the lost ones being me and my roommate); the hike up Longs Peak was so long (pun intended) and painful that we swore not to hike another one – Except that a week later we all seemed to have memory loss and headed up for another hike at Mountain of the Holy Cross.

That was also my 1st time learning how to use a camera: Simply put, I didn’t know what I was doing. Back then I used a cheap Kodak point-and-shoot that literally only had one button to press. But my roommate lugged around this huge Canon DSLR and he let me mess around with it; I also pissed him off by walking away from his favorite Star Wars movie half way through watching it – The ultimate insult to any Star Wars fan 😉 Sorry I just wasn’t into it.

Because of the job (and hiking) opportunities, I almost moved to Colorado after college. But one thing led to another I ended up moving to Tennessee instead for two years before coming back to the Bay – A decision that created a snowball effect on everything that happened afterwards.

Hindsight is 20/20.
