A tiny country about half the size of Los Angeles, Singapore has achieved an economic miracle by rapidly transforming itself within 30 years from a post-war third-world country to a global financial center. An island previously colonized by the British for four decades and briefly occupied by Japan during WWII, nowadays Singaporean are mostly Chinese, Malay, and Indian. Singapore is one of the least corrupt countries in the world – This provides opportunities for its people to live a good life and raise children to do better than themselves.
I had a stopover in Singapore for 2 days before taking a bus north to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
There are food markets all over Singapore. This one being in the financial district, people who work in the banking industry nearby would come have lunch in their business attires everyday during lunch time. The price is very affordable – For a couple of dollars you have a large variety to choose from. This mango-flavored soya bean curd is my favorite dessert.

My Singaporean friend that I met in our hostel in Taiwan took me to go places. We ended up watching the water show at Marina Bay Sands.
