Hospitality vs. profitability, which is more important?
After leaving France, I began my solo journey in Montenegro by visiting its historic capital Cetinje. Cetinje was the former capital of Montenegro before the socialist Yugoslavia moved the capital to Podgorica. In Cetinje I stayed at a guesthouse, where I met a traveler from Russia who also wanted to visit the mausoleum of the Montenegrin prince at the peak of Mount Lovcen. We agreed to pay our guesthouse owner a fare to take us there. The owner, a Cetinje local, only speaks Montenegrin (Serbian) and does not understand a word of English. Serbian and Russian are similar languages so the owner and the traveler from Russia were able to understand each other – Meanwhile, communication between the owner and I was no more than body language and Google Translate.
So off we went to Mount Lovcen, a beautiful panoramic mountaintop and was home to the mausoleum of Montenegrin prince Petar II Petrovic Njegos. At the end of the trip as we returned to the guesthouse and handed over our fare, the owner insisted that the trip was on him!
When you are a business owner and run a guesthouse as a business, profitability is essential and that is how you put bread on the table. But for Montenegrins, being hospitable and putting their country in a good light seem to be of even more important.

Burek is a Balkan pastry made of thin flaky filo and filled with meat, cheese, and potato. This oily, crunchy layer of pastry is quite delicious. Add a can of local beer you have got the ultimate Montenegrin lunch. 這是一種巴爾幹糕點，由薄片麵團製成，內裏有肉、芝士和馬鈴薯，一層層油膩而酥脆相當美味。 加上一罐本地啤酒，成就了終極的黑山午餐。 @Kotor哥德

During WWI, Montenegro joined the Allied Powers to fight the Central Powers. Although the Allied won, Montenegro got left out when the winning states drew new borders of Europe under the Treaty of Versailles. In other words, Montenegro was one of the winning states but lacked its power to get its rights!
