Located just south of the US, the official name of Mexico is Estados Unidos Mexicanos (United Mexican States). The picture of an eagle eating a snake in Mexico’s green-white-red flag is based on an Aztec legend of the Mesoamerican culture. Among many Mesoamerican pyramids in Mexico, the two of the most famous ones are the Pyramid of the Sun near Mexico City and Chichen Itza near Cancun. The smallest dog breed, Chihuahua, is named after the Mexican state just south of El Paso, Texas.

Tamale, a traditional Mesoamerican dish made of dough. Different Central American countries prepare tamale differently. For example, Belizean sometimes put the entire chicken leg with bones into the tamale; Chinese also has something similar to tamale, but we call it zongzi.
